The culture behind a Megazord: Rangers who changed their powers

10 Ago

Welcome back to my blog.

So, we’ve had numerous cases of Rangers changing powers over the course of multiple seasons, with at least one happening as the season was still going.

Now, I’d like to put them together, while dividing them in two groups: those who changed powers but kept their colours and those who didn’t.

Jason is a particular example, because he’s the first Ranger to have been retired only to come back some seasons after. He’s the original Red Ranger, but took over the role of the Gold Ranger from Trey of Triforia.

Tommy is the elephant in the room when it comes to Rangers changing powers. Also, I love how you can form the Italian flag with the first three powers. Then, after Turbo, he went on to become a paleontologist and a teacher, only to come back in Dino Thunder as a Ranger.

Adam is the first Ranger to be both Black and Green. Despite this, the only times where he came back, he only did that as the Black Ranger.

Rocky is the only Ranger to have been part of another team with the Ranger he replaced, as he went from the second Red Ranger to the Blue Zeo Ranger.

Even though Kat has been the Pink Ranger for a handful of episodes, she’s still the only Ranger to have been wearing the same colour for three consecutive seasons despite changing powers every time.

Tanya was introduced at the end of Mighty Morphin’ Alien Rangers, so she became the Yellow Zeo Ranger and, subsequently, the Yellow Turbo Ranger. Her and Kat are two of the four Rangers to have never changed colours. Ironically, the other two are their replacements.

TJ went from leading the team as the Red Turbo Ranger to being the second in command as the Blue Space Ranger.

Mirroring his predecessor, Carlos went from the Green Turbo Ranger to the Black Space Ranger.

Cassie could have been the second Ranger to use three different powers, considering that initially she was going to replace Kendrix.

After the ending of the Zordon Era, SPD is the only season to have shown Rangers changing powers. Sky Tate, the SPD Blue Ranger, becomes Red at the end of the season. Then, we hear from Bridge on Once a Ranger that he got promoted, so he replaced Doggie Kruger. It is unknown which set of powers he uses, considering that the Shadow Ranger ones were created for Doggie himself.

Bridge is a particular case. He also got new powers in a season that wasn’t “his”, but those still came from that season. After getting promoted as the SPD Blue Ranger, we find out that he became Red, and he’s the Red Ranger on Once a Ranger.

The article ends here. See you, next time, here, on the Empty Blog!
