The adaptation names I would give to unadapted Sentai seasons

2 Nov

Welcome back to my blog.

Super Sentai has been adapted into Power Rangers since its 16th season, Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger. This, however, means that there are so many Sentai seasons that have never been seen in the PR universe, with only few of them being either mentioned on Dino Thunder (and/or SPD) or being “tributed” on Super Megaforce, which showcased them as “new powers”.

Therefore, one could only imagine that, maybe, Power Rangers equivalents to team such as the Gorangers, the Biomen and the Jetmen exist somewhere in the universe, and one can also name them.

In fact, the following are the names I would give to unadapted Sentai seasons if they were included in the Power Rangers universe.

Note: an internal source of this article is a post that I made back in January about how I think that the “New Powers” would fit in the Power Rangers universe.

Star Rangers (Goranger)

An English dub that aired on the Hawaii during the ’70s calls the Gorangers “the Star Rangers”. I really like the name, because it actually fits, especially if you think about a five-pointed star. I would not call them “Power Rangers”, as I think that they need to have a special name.

However, if they need to have “Power Rangers” before their name, I would suggest “Star Corps”, as “Corps” is one of the translations of “Sentai”.

The roll call would be the same as the English dub of Goranger.

STAR ONE

STAR TWO

STAR THREE

STAR FOUR

STAR FIVE

We are the STAR RANGERS!

If they do exist somewhere in the Power Rangers universe, they could be something like “the keepers of the Morphin’ Grid”, or they could take a role similar to Akared in the Super Sentai universe.

Power Rangers Cyber Trumps (JAKQ)

The JAKQ Dengekitai is a group of four cyborgs with the motif of trump cards. Therefore, Power Rangers would simply mention it in the title, calling them “Cyber Trumps”.

Also, I think that JAKQ’s roll call would be the same, with the core rangers keeping their names.

SPADE ACE

DIA JACK

HEART QUEEN

CLOVER KING

All together, POWER RANGERS CYBER TRUMPS!

As of Big One, I think that a good adaptation name would be something like Joker Ranger, as I think that this is how he would have been called if Joker wasn’t the name of the team mentor.

JOKER RANGER

The JAKQ may be something like “elemental” rangers, each one of the core rangers as a cyborg linked to an element (Ace-Fire, Jack-Water, Queen-Air, King-Earth), with Big One’s counterpart having elements of each element. Basically, Big One is the Avatar.

Power Rangers World Patrol (Battle Fever J)

Battle Fever J

Okay, Battle Fever J is a series that needs to have a name that would come straight from the Marvel universe. There exist an alternate universe team of mutants called the X-Patrol, so Patrol could easily be a suitable name for the “superheroic” team of Battle Fever J.

The team names, however, should be somehow connected to Marvel comics.

CAPTAIN JAPAN

CAPTAIN FRANCE

COSSACK DYNAMO

STORM PANTHER

MISS AMERICA

WORLD PATROL, ASSEMBLE!

The reference to Kenya on Battle Kenya’s equivalent is that he’s named after Storm, a Kenyan member of the X-Men, and Black Panther, the superhero that probably influenced the BFJ character. Plus, Japan and France are both called “Captain” because I think that their suits being different than the other three (they have more white than their main colour, as opposite to the other three) would be relevant to the plot.

Their role in the Power Rangers universe could be more light-hearted and comedic, with them being an affictionate parody of superhero teams that was around about 15 years prior to MMPR.

Power Rangers Electro-Spark (Denziman)

Denziman

Denziman’s morphing call is one of my favourites, as they shout “Denzi Spark!”, or “electromagnetic spark!”. Also, it seems like their arsenal is more electomagnetic-centered, so a name like Electro-Spark could fit.

This is the eventual roll call.

RED ELECTRO RANGER

BLUE ELECTRO RANGER

YELLOW ELECTRO RANGER

GREEN ELECTRO RANGER

PINK ELECTRO RANGER

Power Rangers ELECTRO-SPARK!

They could come from a distant planet called Denzi, and they protected their planetary system during the last 30 years.

Power Rangers Sun Vulcan (Sun Vulcan)

Sun Vulcan

I think that Sun Vulcan would keep the name because there can’t be a better one that fits the team. Also, there isn’t a good pun with the number 3 available in English (the ones that I’m thinking are utterly cheesy, such as THREEDOM! Ugh).

However, I think that their Power Rangers names would be “(Colour) Vulcan”, as it would be different than “Vul (Animal)”.

RED VULCAN

BLUE VULCAN

YELLOW VULCAN

Powered by the Sun, Power Rangers SUN VULCAN!

The Sun Vulcan would be the ultimate protectors of the Earth, as they embody the air (Red), the water (Blue) and the land (Yellow) of our planet. Their powers may come from something similar to Changeman’s Earth Force, although it would be more like a “Solar Force”.

Power Rangers Gem Force (Goggle V)

GoggleV

Goggle V’s arsenal is gymnastics-themed, but their powers come from five gems linked to ancient or legendary civilizations. Therefore, their roll call would mention the gems.

RED RUBY RANGER

BLACK EMERALD RANGER

BLUE SAPPHIRE RANGER

YELLOW OPAL RANGER

PINK DIAMOND RANGER

United, we’re the great squadron of Power Rangers Gem Force!

These five rangers, in the Power Rangers universe, may actually come from the civilizations they’re linked to, with maybe their modern-day members being descendants of those who protected the Earth millennia ago.

Power Rangers Legendary Battalion (Dynaman)

Dynaman

Dynaman already has a name, thanks to Super Megaforce. The Legendary Battalion is one of the Power Rangers teams that exist somewhere in the universe, as a secret battalion that fights the evil forces throughout a galaxy far, far away.

I would keep the Dynaman roll call, because I’m a huge fan of how Dyna Red says “Explosions!” when the Dynamen introduce themselves. However, “Dyna” would be replaced by Battalion.

BATTALION RED

BATTALION BLACK

BATTALION BLUE

BATTALION YELLOW

BATTALION PINK

EXPLOSIONS! We’re the Battalion Rangers!

Power Rangers Bio-Man (Bioman)

Bioman

Oh, Bioman, the Sentai that made Haim Saban wish he could bring Super Sentai to the United States! I would keep their story closer to how it was conceived back when the Bio-Man pilot was produced: five young people discover that they’re linked by some sort of “Biorhythm” that recruits them to fight evil.

BIORHYTHM RED-1

BIORHYTHM GREEN-2

BIORHYTHM BLUE-3

BIORHYTHM YELLOW-4

BIORHYTHM PINK-5

READY? ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE! POWER RANGERS BIO-MAN!

The five ranger may have secretly fought during the ’80s, although their adventures were lost. Plus, if they keep the Magne Warrior, he would keep its name, but the roll call would be different.

MAGNE-RHYTM BLACK-6

Power Rangers Blitz (Changeman)

Changeman

Super Megaforce explains that the Dragon Blitz Rangers gained their powers from a “Legendary Dragon”. Plus, due to the scheme (such as a Red Dragon and a Pink Phoenix), this set of powers could easily be a prototype of the Mega Ranger’s set, and they can still manage to tap into the morphing grid to use these powers.

Oh, and, considering that they do appear in the background during the Legendary Battle, this means that Gosei actually has more teams throughout the galaxy, which would explain why would he decide to show up on Earth only fifteen years after the sacrifice of his master.

Their roll call would be this.

BLITZ DRAGON

BLITZ GRIFFON

BLITZ PEGASUS

BLITZ MERMAID

BLITZ PHOENIX

With the fury of the legends, we’re the Blitz Rangers!

Power Rangers Prism (Flashman)

Flashman

What if the Prisms from Flashman are an ancient version of the Zeo Crystals? After all, they have the same set of colours. Also, the Prisms could be the “simple explanation” about Megaforce Black becoming a Green Ranger in Super Mega Mode: Gosei may have used the prisms to create the Super Mega Modes, and, considering that there isn’t a black prism, he could have only made a green one.

PRISM RANGER RED

PRISM RANGER GREEN

PRISM RANGER BLUE

PRISM RANGER YELLOW

PRISM RANGER PINK

Prism Rangers, ready!

Power Rangers Lightning (Maskman)

Maskman

Maskman has a colour scheme that’s similar to the Mighty Morphin’ one, with even a green sixth ranger, although he’s a prorotype. Therefore, they could be some sort of prototypes of the MMPR powers, which would explain their connection to thunders.

These six rangers may exist somewhere in the Morphin Grid, maybe being the Mighty Morphin’ from another universe.

RED LIGHTNING RANGER

BLACK LIGHTNING RANGER

BLUE LIGHTNING RANGER

YELLOW LIGHTNING RANGER

PINK LIGHTNING RANGER

X-1 RANGER

Power Rangers Super Beasts (Liveman)

SHTZ Liveman

“Super Beasts” is the translation of Choujuu, as in Choujuu Sentai Liveman. They may also come from another dimension, in which they’re the counterparts of the Galaxy or the Wild Force Rangers, fighting for their planet using the spirits of Wild Animals.

Their roll call would be the same as the Senta’s.

RED FALCON

BLACK BISON

GREEN RHINO

YELLOW LION

BLUE DOLPHIN

POWER RANGERS SUPER BEASTS!

Power Rangers Full Throttle (Turboranger)

Turboranger

Okay, how would the Turborangers be named in a universe in which “Turbo”, “Supersonic”, “Lightspeed” and “Racing Performing Machines” are already taken? Well, what about Full Throttle? After all, the Turborangers didn’t have a roll call, so they would only say “Power Rangers, Full Throttle!“.

Who are they? The Turborangers may fight for the purity of the universe, and they may be the “dark” version of the Livemen, meaning that they show up when nature is badly damaged.

Power Rangers Supersonic (Fiveman)

Fiveman

The Fivemen actually appear in the background of the Legendary Battle, so they actually fight somewhere in the PR universe. I imagine them being a team that fights aliens whose weakness is some sorts of sounds (think about the movie “Mars Attacks!”).

Also, they could still be a group of siblings, being the current generation of a clan that mastered a martial art based on the sounds.

SUPERSONIC RED RANGER

SUPERSONIC BLUE RANGER

SUPERSONIC BLACK RANGER

SUPERSONIC PINK RANGER

SUPERSONIC YELLOW RANGER

Power Rangers Supersonic!

Galaxy Rangers (Jetman)

Jetman

Mirroring how Jetman could have been the first adapted Sentai instead of Zyuranger, the Galaxy Rangers come from another universe in which they’re the original team of Earth, and their storyline would be similar to the original Jetman one.

RED

BLACK

YELLOW

WHITE

BLUE

Galaxy Rangers, unite!

Power Rangers Legendary Squadron (Dairanger)

Dairanger

When the rangers become the “Legendary Squadron”, Orion immediately becomes the Mighty Morphin’ White Ranger, choosing his key without even thinking. This is an even further confirmation that the Dairanger powers are connected to the Thunderzord and the White Ranger, and I consider the Legendary Squadron to be Eltar (Zordon’s home planet)’s Power Rangers team.

RED DRAGON RANGER

LION RANGER

UNICORN RANGER

GRIFFIN RANGER

FIREBIRD RANGER

With the power of thunder upon us, we are the LEGENDARY SQUADRON!

Now, the next three are the candidates to be the next adapted Power Rangers season, but this is how I would call them if they were left unadapted.

Power Rangers Energy Chasers (Go-Busters)

Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters

I read everywhere that Energy Chasers is the most used title for the topic of “what if Go-Busters wasn’t skipped?”. In fact, I would keep it, and I would also love to see Energy Chasers being set in the same dimension as RPM, maybe being the sequel or something like that, so they can deal with what happens there once and for all!

Their names would be similar to the original, althoug Beet and Stag Buster would have their colour instead of their animal.

RED BUSTER

BLUE BUSTER

YELLOW BUSTER

GOLD BUSTER

SILVER BUSTER

Power Rangers Energy Chasers!

“Buster” needs to be kept, as GB is written everywhere.

Power Rangers TQG (ToQger)

Just like SPD was called SPD due to the HUGE presence of these three letters everywhere in the footage, ToQger presents the same problem. Therefore, the name would be TQG,  although I can’t think of a cool set of three words with these initials.

The plot (kids with imagination turned into adults), the transfer changes and many other elements would be kept, such as the rangers being associated with a number, and not a colour.

RANGER #1

RANGER #2

RANGER #3

RANGER #4

RANGER #5

RANGER #6

RANGER #7

IMAGINATION IS VICTORY! POWER RANGERS TQG!

JUNE 17TH, 2017 UPDATE: Okay, so someone asked me if I was going to update this post. Therefore, I remove my name for NinNinger and replace it with Kyuuranger.

Power Rangers Ninja Strike (NinNinger)

If they used “Dino” twice, why can’t there be two teams with “Ninja” as the beginning of their name? There could be a ninja clan that has matered the shuriken ninja arts to fight evil Youkai, and they could be a “secret” team hiding in the shadows (although it would be a HUGE departure from the premise of NinNinger, “having shinobi that don’t hide”) until they need to show up and “run wild”.

Their names would be “(Colour) Ninja”.

RED NINJA

BLUE NINJA

YELLOW NINJA

WHITE NINJA

PINK NINJA

GOLD NINJA

Instead of hiding, we run wild. Power Rangers Ninja Strike!

NinNinger eventually got adapted into Power Rangers Ninja Steel. Notice how close I was

Power Rangers Beastmasters (ZyuOhger)

I still think this season could be names Power Rangers Beastmasters. Here’s how I’d name them.

Master of the skies, Red Ranger!

Master of the oceans, Blue Ranger!

Master of the savannah, Yellow Ranger!

Master of the forest, Green Ranger!

Master of the snow, White Ranger!

Master of the World, Wild Ranger!

Master of the clouds, Bird Ranger!

Power Rangers BEASTMASTERS!

Power Rangers Stellar Fleet (Kyuuranger)

Okay, this is the current Sentai so we don’t know yet how things will change. As for now, we’ve had 11 Rangers,

I would love to see them using the constellation names, but in English, because I can’t imagine a kid actually remembering the Latin names.

Red Lion

Orange Scorpion

Blue Wolf

Gold Scales

Black Bull

Silver Snake

Green Chameleon

Pink Eagle

Yellow Swordfish

Purple Dragon

Aqua Bear

Power Rangers Stellar Fleet

I don’t want to imagine a catchphrase because “the ultimate 9 warriors” jokes on how it’s full of “kyu” in Japanese. Plus, I simply said “snake” and not “snake bearer” for aesthetic.

These are the names that I would give to the unadapted Sentai. What do you think about it?

See you, next time, here, on the Empty Blog!
